Software built for
the signal, not the noise
We're a small indie studio with roots in ham radio culture, building practical apps that help people understand their world.
Our story
Born from a radio shack in Alabama
OpenSquelch started as a simple idea: what if the tools ham radio operators use every day were as polished as the best consumer apps? What if weather data felt as immediate and personal as a conversation on the air?
We're a solo founder operation based in Alabama — where the weather is always interesting and the ham radio community is alive and active. Every product we build reflects what we actually need and use ourselves.
The name comes from the squelch control on a radio — the knob that filters out static so you can hear what actually matters. That's the philosophy behind everything we make.
What we make
Apps that do one thing well
We don't chase trends. We build focused tools that solve real problems for real people.
HomeWX
A personal weather app designed for homeowners and outdoor enthusiasts who want hyperlocal conditions, not a generic forecast. Connect your own station, track trends over time, and get the data that actually matters for your backyard.
PropNow
Real-time HF propagation predictions for amateur radio operators. See which bands are open right now at your location — powered by live PSKReporter spots and NOAA solar data, so you spend less time guessing and more time making contacts.
Why we exist
Useful software, honestly made
The best radio operators know how to cut through interference and find the signal. We think software should work the same way — clear purpose, no filler, no dark patterns, no subscriptions you forgot you signed up for.
"OpenSquelch: cut the static, keep what matters."
We're not trying to build the next unicorn. We're trying to build the next tool you actually reach for.
Who we build for
People who prefer the signal
Ham radio operators
Hobbyists and licensed operators who want modern tools that respect the culture and craft of amateur radio.
Weather enthusiasts
Homeowners, gardeners, and weather nerds who want real data for their specific location — not a ZIP code guess.
Indie software fans
People who appreciate apps built with care by someone who actually uses them — and who answers their own support emails.
