The short version
At OpenSquelch, we believe your privacy is not a feature to be marketed — it's a baseline expectation. This policy covers our website (opensquelch.com) and all apps we publish, including HomeWX and PropNow.
We do not collect personal information. We do not store personal information. And we will never sell any information we may have to anyone, for any reason.
Data collection
What we collect
Our apps do not require you to create an account or provide any personal details to use them. We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, or payment information.
Our apps do not transmit your location back to us. Any location data used by an app — such as your coordinates for a weather lookup — is used locally on your device and is not sent to or stored on our servers.
We do not currently run analytics or crash-reporting services, so we have no visibility into how you use our apps or what happens on your device.
Third parties
Third-party data sources
Some of our apps retrieve data from external services — for example, PropNow fetches propagation data from PSKReporter and NOAA, and HomeWX connects to your personal weather station via its manufacturer API. These requests are made directly from your device and are governed by those services' own privacy policies. OpenSquelch does not act as an intermediary for or have access to those requests.
Website
This website
Opensquelch.com is a standard WordPress site. Our hosting provider may log basic server data such as IP addresses and page requests as part of normal web server operation. We do not use this data to identify or track individual visitors, and we do not install advertising trackers, retargeting pixels, or third-party analytics scripts on this site.
App stores
Apple App Store & Google Play
When you download one of our apps through the Apple App Store or Google Play, Apple or Google may collect certain information as part of that transaction. That collection is governed by their respective privacy policies, which are separate from ours.
Purchases
In-app purchases
Some of our apps offer optional in-app purchases such as one-time unlocks or premium features. All transactions are processed entirely by Apple (via the App Store) or Google (via Google Play). OpenSquelch never sees, handles, or stores your payment information — not your card number, billing address, or any other financial details.
Purchase records such as whether a feature has been unlocked are managed by Apple or Google and restored to your device through their standard restore-purchase mechanisms. We do not maintain any purchase history on our own servers.
Changes
Updates to this policy
If we ever add analytics, crash reporting, or any other data collection to our apps or website, we will update this policy before doing so and note the change clearly. We won't quietly expand what we collect.
The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects when this policy was most recently revised.
